KAVANAGH DAY was inaugurated in 2004 to allow readings of Patrick Kavanagh's writings by waterways in counties around Ireland in mid-July. Ger Considine is a Kavanagh enthusiast and wishes to celebrate his poetry and prose by staging this event in Galway in July this year. Recited Kavanagh poems will be accompanied by a local musician on fiddle or melodeon playing mostly Moor’s / Carolon Irish melodies.
